Carrie Watts  has to live with a daughter-in-law who hates her and a son who does not dare take her side. The  unhappy family lives in a cramped Houston apartment where Carrie dreams of returning to her hometown of Bountiful, where she was raised. Carrie eventually escapes the watchful eye of her daughter-in-law and embarks by bus on an adventure that will take her"Home".  But as She gets closer to her destination Carrie learns that Bountiful may not be all that she remembers...

Tomo-Kahni Volunteer Training

Volunteer Training for Tomo-Kahni State Historic Park

Tomo-Kahni State Historic Park in Tehachapi is in need of volunteers! On March 7th and 14th, California State Parks is offering a 2-day training for volunteers to assist with any of the following activities: leading tours, promoting the park at festival booths, presenting school group programs, archaeological site monitoring, assisting at special events, and other duties. Learn about the culture and life ways of the Kawaiisu Indians, wildflowers of the Tehachapi Mountains, wildlife, the region’s colorful history and volunteer duties at the training.
No experience or prior knowledge is necessary and all ages are welcome. Volunteers must be interested in learning, and have a positive, friendly attitude. Activities and schedules are flexible, based on abilities and interests. Applicants must complete the training and a background check before beginning volunteer work. When: 9 am – 3 pm, Saturdays March 7th and 14th (must attend both training dates)
Where: Training sessions will be held at Tehachapi Community Congregational Church’s Friendship Hall, 100 East E Street, Tehachapi (park in lot on the east side of the building)

Tea in The Woods

Starting November 9th and occurring monthly throughout the winter and spring One Perfect Day will be hosting teas at The Woods Pavilion 323 W. F St. in Tehachapi. Each tea time will be presented with a specific theme each month. This is open to anyone who wants a relaxing afternoon with great conversation, a delicious light meal and scrumptious desserts. All while sipping delightful teas that complement the meal. Entertainment will be provided by local artists (tips welcome). $25 per person, reservations required.  Starting Sat Nov 9th, two seatings; 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm.  Subsequent teas are 12/14, 1/11, 2/15, 3/14, and 4/11.  Make one or all!!!  Bring your favorite people to share in the fun!
